About this race
Infinite Race Val d'Aran is a mountain Backyard Ultra based in Salardú, a village in the Val d'Aran in Lleida, Spain. Runners start a 6.705 km trail loop every hour, and the format keeps going until the field is reduced by endurance rather than by a fixed finish time. Each lap includes 230 metres of climbing, so the challenge is not just staying awake and moving, but repeating a hilly mountain loop again and again. The race is held in September and is still young, with its third edition on the calendar.
The course uses the natural terrain around Salardú, putting a short but demanding trail circuit at the centre of the event. The race leans into the Backyard Ultra idea with the phrase “Just One More Loop,” which fits the structure: runners only need to finish the current lap in time to start the next one. It attracts people looking for a hard endurance test rather than a standard point-to-point race, and the event presents itself as a weekend where mountain running, local community, and resistance meet in the heart of the Val d'Aran.
