About this race
La 6.6 de Bellaterra is a 6.6 km race held in the natural setting of Bellaterra, a small Catalan community near Barcelona. The 6.6 km distance references the 6.6 tons of CO2 reportedly emitted annually by each Bellaterra resident. The EMD of Bellaterra organizes the event, which typically has the character of a local community race, distinct from a large city road event, linking sport with inclusion and environmental action.
Participants begin at Placa del Pi, adjacent to the Bellaterra FGC station. The primary 6.6 km events are trail running and Nordic walking, each preceded by a musical warm-up. A free, 250 m adapted inclusive race is also offered, enabling individuals with functional diversity to participate. A portion of the entry fees funds the regeneration of a local forest fragment, including efforts near the Font de la Bonaigua. Organizers intend for the race to be carbon- and plastic-neutral by offsetting the event's footprint through tree planting in Bellaterra's green areas.
