About this race
The Matterhorn Ultraks MOUNTAIN race is a 32 km trail run in Zermatt, starting Saturday morning with 2,000 m of climbing. It is positioned within the Ultraks series: long and mountainous enough to require significant preparation, but shorter than the longest ultra-distance options.
The route takes runners through high-alpine terrain surrounding Zermatt and includes a crossing of the suspension bridge over the Gornerschlucht, a distinct highlight. Safety cutoffs structure the day: runners must reach Riffelalp by early afternoon at the 13 km mark, and the finish line closes in the evening, with race jury members making the final decisions at each checkpoint.
