About this race
The Media Maratón de Marbella takes place in late September in Marbella, a Costa del Sol resort town situated between Málaga and Gibraltar. Officially named the Sierra Blanca Estates Marbella Half Marathon by “RUN-On”, it is organized by Run On Series. Participants can opt for the full half marathon distance of 21.097 km, a 5 km race, or form a relay team of up to three people to complete the half marathon. Late September can still be warm in southern Spain, making this a sea-level run where sun and pacing are as important as speed.
The half marathon course is flat and fast, featuring long sections alongside the Mediterranean Sea. It winds through Marbella’s city center before following the coast past villas, yachts, and open sea vistas. The race embraces Marbella’s refined Costa del Sol atmosphere, but it accommodates more than just solo half marathoners; relay teams and 5 km participants contribute to a broader, more communal atmosphere. Post-race, participants can explore local landmarks such as the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación, Edificio Marbella, the old medieval walls surrounding the former Arab medina, or the Mezquita del Rey Abdul Aziz, also known as the Great Mosque of Marbella.
