About this race
The Milla Urbana de Arganda del Rey is a one-mile road race held in Arganda del Rey, Community of Madrid. It takes place on a Friday evening, opening the town’s patron-saint festivities. The race begins in Plaza de la Constitución, covering the classic mile distance of 1,609 meters. This makes it a short, fast course through the town center, distinct from longer road events. Established in 1985, it is now in its thirty-ninth edition, with only the pandemic years interrupting its annual schedule.
The course follows Calle Real, maintaining its original circuit design. This consistency provides the race with strong local continuity. It ranks as the third-oldest urban mile in Spain and holds the most editions within the Community of Madrid. Organized by the Club Municipal Atletismo Arganda and the Ayuntamiento de Arganda, the event has featured prominent Spanish runners like Alberto García, Teófilo Benito, Juan Carlos de la Osa, and Jesús España. International athletes also participated during years when the race held international status.
