About this race

Oxfam Intermón Trailwalker Girona is a 100-kilometer team endurance walk in Catalonia, Spain, covering the route from Olot to Sant Feliu de Guíxols on the Costa Brava. Teams of four have 32 hours to complete the course, and all competitors must stay together for the entire distance, without relays. Each team is accompanied by two support crew members, making the event as much about planning, pacing, food, and care as about physical fitness. This format originates from the Trailwalker series, a fundraising challenge that began in Hong Kong and later expanded to include civilian teams with Oxfam as a partner. The Girona route is predominantly off-road, consisting of about 95% dirt track and 5% asphalt. It features 423 meters of elevation gain and 986 meters of descent. While it is a mountain route, the primary challenges are the distance, the fatigue from walking overnight, and maintaining a consistent pace for all four teammates. The event can attract up to 2,200 participants, drawing charity teams, experienced walkers, runners, and groups seeking a shared endeavor rather than individual competition. Course support includes 11 liquid aid stations and 11 solid aid stations, along with showers, massage services, food at the finish line, diplomas for finishers, and trophies for winners.
