Ruta de Carlos III Ciudad del Sol is a 26 km running race in the province of Seville, connecting several towns around Écija. It begins in La Luisiana, goes through El Campillo and Cañada Rosal, and concludes in Écija, the city central to the event’s presentation and organisation. The race typically takes place in January and is designated as a non-competitive running event, despite the organiser also advertising cash prizes and classifications.
The route follows the old town-to-town path between La Luisiana, Cañada Rosal, and Écija, giving it the character of a regional race rather than a single-city event. Écija’s local youth and sports agency organises it with backing from the councils of La Luisiana, El Campillo, and Cañada Rosal. The series has completed over thirty editions, and local media regard it as a standard winter athletics event in the province. Participants receive a race bag, and recent editions have featured an official jersey supported by a local sponsor.
