Ruta de las Canteras 2026

The Ruta de las Canteras begins and ends at the Ermita de San Jeronimo in Capres, a village within the Fortuna municipality of Murcia. This trail event features a long race of approximately 36.5 km through the Sierra de la Pila and a shorter 10 km option circling Capres. The 10 km route accommodates hikers, trail walkers, and runners, making the day suitable for more than just competitive mountain runners. Afarem organizes the race, with assistance from the regional athletics federation, the Fortuna council, and environmental authorities. The event emphasizes its environmental commitment, operating as a CO2-emission-free, eco-sustainable race. Trees are planted for participants to offset the race's environmental impact. Since its inception in 2019, over 6,000 trees have been planted, with local schoolchildren participating in the planting. This integrates the race into a community conservation effort alongside the sports event. It also encourages outdoor family sports in rural settings, while maintaining a competitive element through prizes for the top three finishers in each category.
