San Silvestre Arriateña is a 9 km road race held in late December in Arriate, a town in Málaga province. The race begins in the central Plaza de la Constitución. The Arriate City Council organizes it as a year-end popular race, with entries limited to 150 runners, making it considerably smaller than major city San Silvestres.
The route winds through Arriate’s streets, which are adorned with Christmas decorations, lending the race a distinct holiday atmosphere without making it a novelty event. Andalusian Athletics Federation judges officiate the competition. Trophies are awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and the Buenos Aires sports center offers toilet and shower facilities. Alongside the main race, school competitions are held for age groups U6 through U16, covering distances from 300 m to 3 km. The race is included in the Diputación de Málaga athletics circuit, comes with a commemorative T-shirt, and typically features an affordable bar service managed by Veteranos Arriate.
