The San Silvestre de Calahorra is a New Year’s Eve road race held in Calahorra, La Rioja. It begins at 4:00 PM on December 31. The primary event is a 6.9-kilometer popular race, with the start and finish located at Club Polideportivo Juventud Calahorra. This race is organized by Club Polideportivo Juventud, with support from the Ayuntamiento de Calahorra. Registration costs 5 euros and includes a commemorative T-shirt.
The route crosses Calahorra’s avenues and streets, including a section through the park before returning to the sports club. Participants come from clubs in La Rioja and Navarra, alongside many local runners and families. In a recent edition, 393 athletes completed the long course, and 570 people participated across all categories, indicating its role as a community end-of-year run as well as a competitive event. Mikel Abad, a Calahorra runner for Club Pamplona Atlético, and Rocío Marín were among the overall winners.
