About this race
Sgrail 100 - Cadaqués begins on the beach in Cadaqués, located on Spain’s Costa Brava. The event starts with a 1.5 km swim in the Mediterranean Sea within Cap de Creus National Park. Following the swim, it transitions into a point-to-point gravel triathlon: swim, gravel bike, then trail run, covering approximately 100 km. This format contrasts with the typical road-triathlon setup. The event emphasizes a different kind of triathlon, with coffee, donuts, tapas, and beer reflecting a relaxed atmosphere rather than a focus on speed or formal transitions.
After the swim, participants cycle about 90 km on gravel roads toward Girona. This section utilizes gravel or mountain bikes over rough gravel paths, farm tracks, back roads, and includes a river crossing. The bike leg features around 1,200 m of elevation gain, with two challenging climbs early on. Aid stations along the route offer tapas, donuts, and coffee. The final leg is a 10 km trail run, ascending toward Sant Miquel before descending to the finish line near Girona cathedral. Buses are provided to connect Girona with the Cadaqués start point, and bikes can be checked in the evening prior, aligning with the point-to-point nature of the race.
