The Trail Villa de Fornes begins at the Town Hall in Fornes, a small village in Granada province situated by the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama Natural Park. This mountain race offers a main trail of approximately 24 km, with shorter options of 12 to 14 km, and a hiking march for those who prefer to traverse the route without competing. The event is part of Granada’s provincial mountain-running calendar, featuring in the Provincial CxM Circuit and the Provincial Mountain Running Grand Prix. Consequently, it attracts local runners aiming for series points, alongside hikers and shorter-distance participants.
The course departs from the Town Hall area, ascends through the upper section of Fornes, and proceeds towards the Mesa de Fornes foothills before returning to the starting point for the finish. Specific named sections indicate the varied terrain: La Resinera, Barranco la Carihuela, La Plancha, the Caves of Moñiga, the Cambril and Mazahate huts, Vereda de la Cuesta de la Cebada, Cuesta El Pino, and another ravine section are all part of the route. A recent edition saw close to a hundred participants, contributing to a community feel rather than a large-scale event.
