The Travesía a Nado Universidad de Granada is an open-water swimming race held at the Cubillas reservoir. It is organized by the University of Granada Nautical Club, located near Albolote. This event is part of the Diputación de Granada provincial circuit for swimming crossings, placing it within a broader local series. The race typically attracts around 200 swimmers under favorable conditions. The reservoir provides participants with a controlled freshwater course, differing from a sea swim.
The primary race covers 3,000 meters, consisting of two laps around the marked course. A 1,500-meter distance is also offered. Participants include serious contenders, those opting for the shorter distance, local swimmers, and masters athletes. Carmen Ibáñez was noted as the top local swimmer in the master 60 category. The event's organization was described as efficient, and it offered a welcome respite from the Granada heat, which is significant for an open-air summer swim at Cubillas.
