Travessia Badia de Palamós 2026

Swimmers start the Travessia Badia de Palamós by jumping from the pier, then race in open water off Playa Grande de Palamós, on the Costa Brava in Girona. This June swim is organized by Club Natació Palamós with support from the local council, and it is part of the Catalan Open Water Circuit, managed by the Catalan Swimming Federation. The event provides a 1,000 m short swim, a 2,500 m long swim, and a combined option for those wishing to complete both. The race takes place in the bay of Palamós, not a pool or canal, meaning swimmers contend with actual sea conditions near the town beach and harbor. The competition is open to both recreational and federated swimmers, attracting a blend of club racers, seasoned open-water athletes, and individuals opting for the shorter distance as a more accessible challenge. Wetsuits are permitted, and the organizers facilitate rentals via a partner shop, with options for collection in Barcelona or home delivery.
