Triatlón Ciudad de Palencia is a summer triathlon held in Palencia, Spain. It begins in the afternoon from Pío XII and contributes to the Castile and León Triathlon Ranking. While past editions featured sprint distances, the event expanded to include an Olympic distance: a 1,500-meter swim, a 40-kilometer bike ride, and a 10-kilometer run. Organized by Club Triatlón Palencia and the city council, it attracts approximately 250 athletes from throughout Spain, not exclusively local club members.
The competition is typically decided during the bike and run segments, not solely the swim. In one instance, Hugo Ramos exited the water first, being the sole competitor under 11 minutes. However, Borja Martín recorded the fastest bike split and secured the win ahead of Hugo Fernández and Ramos after a 4.75 km run. For the women, Erika Sanchez established an early lead in the swim, followed by Laura Fermoso who took the lead on the bike and maintained it through the nearly 5 km run. Organizers focus on practical race-day elements: the athlete bag has contained tourist information, a cap, a backpack, and samples, with hydration stations available on the run course and at the finish line.
