About this race
The Astudillo Standard Triathlon begins with a swim from the Old Bridge over the Pisuerga River. The first transition is located there, after which athletes cycle back toward the town. This is a standard-distance, non-drafting triathlon held in Astudillo, located in Spain’s Palencia province, typically in mid-July. The Astudillo City Council organizes the event, which is part of the Diputación de Palencia triathlon circuit.
The race consists of a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km bike ride, and a 10 km run. The cycling portion involves two 20 km road loops, and the run is completed in three laps of slightly more than 3.3 km each. This course design allows spectators to view athletes multiple times. The finish line and second transition are situated in the town hall square, concluding the race in the center of Astudillo. Past early registration incentives have included a prize draw with items like a weekend stay at Balneario de la Hermida, running shoes, and gourmet preserves.
