6th Nummela Backyard Ultra 2026

Nummela Backyard Ultra takes place on the trails of Nummelanharju in Nummela, Vihti, located approximately 50 km from Helsinki and about a 45-minute drive from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The race begins at 10:00 a.m. and adheres to the backyard ultra format: participants complete laps, returning to the start area for another lap until only one runner remains capable of continuing. The race hub is Tarmonmaja at Hiidenvedentie 4, offering 35 indoor support spots within the hut and 55 outdoor spots for those with their own tents or caravans. This marks the fifth Nummela Backyard Ultra, and the event has reportedly grown annually. All participants receive a wooden medal. The winner and their designated assistant are awarded a belt and necklace crafted by a local blacksmith. Additional prizes are designated for the winner, the assistant, and the participant recognized as the race’s toughest fighter. Volunteers contribute to the event's operation, fostering a spirit closer to a community running gathering than a formal city race.
