About this race
Le Penguilais is a mountain-bike and walking event in Penguily, a village near Lamballe-Armor in Côtes-d’Armor, Brittany. It takes place on August 15 and is organized by the Comité des fêtes de Penguily. Riders and walkers gather in the village or at the local event base before starting their chosen route. The cycling aspect is in the rando / cross-country style, not road racing, with participants opting for marked off-road circuits, raids, and a morning on Breton lanes and tracks.
The typical schedule offers mountain bikers several distances, generally from around 21 km to 60 km, including an Ultra and a Raid that begin earlier than the main free-start rides. Walkers have shorter loops, with routes listed around 8, 11, 13, and 17 km in some years. On-site registration and refreshment stops are available on the circuits. Having run for over thirty editions, the event is a long-standing local August 15 tradition rather than a singular race. Club riders, casual VTT users, hikers, and families all participate in this sporty village day organized by the festival committee.
