About this race
The 5 km et Mile d'Amiens Métropole is a road race in Amiens focused on fast times. The 5 km features a flat loop, and the program also includes an FFA-labeled road mile (1,609.34 metres). L'Amicale du Val de Somme organizes the event, and the 5 km can serve as a qualifier for the French championships. Starts are organized by expected performance, grouping runners aiming for similar times.
The 5 km course is designed for speed, beginning on a wide avenue with no early bottleneck and the first turn occurring after 400 metres. A predictive clock displays the estimated finishing time every 400 metres, aiding runners in maintaining their pace. The competition is strong: in the previous edition, seven runners finished under 15 minutes, 45 under 16, 117 under 17, and 187 under 18. Spectators have space along the course, while runners receive refreshments at the start and finish, along with access to toilets, showers, changing rooms, prizes for top finishers, and a participant gift.
