The Beille Trail - Les Cabannes is a winter trail race held on the Plateau de Beille in Ariège. It takes place on a Sunday in January at an altitude of approximately 1,800 meters. Established as Ariège’s first white trail race, it requires participants to use snow and cold-weather gear. VO2 Max organizes the event, which attracts about 800 runners competing on two timed courses.
The Piparlan Trail is the shorter 10 km race, featuring 350 meters of elevation gain and a 3-hour time limit. It is open to participants from the cadet to master categories. The Artaran course spans 20 km with 550 meters of climbing and a 4 hour 30 minute limit, available for espoir through master categories. Participants must carry at least 1 liter of water, wear covered arms and legs, gloves, a hat, a long-sleeved jacket, a waterproof jacket, and energy food. Entrants also receive a day pass for the Beille ski resort, allowing for additional time on the mountain post-race.
