Cani'Haut-Marnaise

Cani'Haut-Marnaise, a new dog-powered race day in Fayl-Billot, Haute-Marne, France, is scheduled for November. The primary event is canicross, where a runner and dog are tethered, working as a single unit. The schedule includes timed canicross races of 5, 7, and 10 km. Additionally, there are 7 km timed events for Cani-VTT (dog pulling a bike) and Cani-trotinette (dog with a scooter). A 7 km Cani-rando hike is offered without podium timing, alongside youth races ranging from 1.5 km to 5 km. The event is organized by L'Agence d'attractivite de la Haute-Marne and Les Cani'Haut-Marnais, an association founded by Melissa and Lucie. Handisport participants are welcome in all canicross categories, broadening the event's scope beyond typical running competitions. The sport originated from a concept by Lyon veterinarian Gilles Pernoud in the late 1980s, influenced by Nordic ski joering, emphasizing inherent dog-human partnership. The day is designed as a dog-centric gathering, featuring demonstrations of lure chasing, scent work, and canicross, alongside local dog-related vendors like groomers and food providers.
