The Class TRI départemental Nantes is a youth triathlon testing event held at the Durantière site in Nantes. It is designed for young athletes from departmental clubs, featuring benjamin, minime, cadet, and junior categories. Performances are assessed through timed efforts instead of a standard mass-start race.
The Nantes event utilizes the track for running segments ranging from 1000m to 3000m, and the velodrome for a cycling test of either 2000m or 3500m, varying by category. Approximately one hundred young athletes are expected from clubs including Tri Veloce St Sebastien, BEST St Nazaire, Carquefou, and Bouguenais. The broader Class Triathlon framework, originating from the F.F.TRI, aims to identify promising young triathletes via measured performances in swimming and running. For this Nantes edition, the swim component was omitted due to health restrictions.
