The Corrida de Surbourg begins at the village hall in Surbourg, Bas-Rhin, on the first weekend of August. The primary race is a short evening run of approximately 8 to 8.2 kilometers, commencing around 7:00 PM, with a maximum of 80 meters of elevation gain. It is part of the Kirwe, the village festival, positioning runners near the fairground before the evening's dancing. Three children's races precede it, ranging from a 350-meter mini corrida to a 1.5-kilometer youth race, contributing to the event's atmosphere as a community gathering.
The main course consists of two circuits through Surbourg, combining village streets with agricultural paths and forest trails. Approximately one hundred runners are anticipated for the main race. The event's scale allows the local setting to be prominent: the start is at the village hall, showers are located at the football field, and the festival continues post-race. The corrida was introduced to the Kirwe to provide a sporting commencement to the weekend, with 22C4S listed as the organizer and entry fees maintained at a low level for all distances.
