The Corrida des Remparts Bastide Saint Malo is an evening charity run and walk held in Saint-Malo, a walled Breton port city. The start and finish village is located at Quai Saint Malo. An 8 km walk begins the events, followed by a Joëlette race for participants with reduced mobility, and a main run of approximately 9 km. This event takes place in January and maintains a festive atmosphere, encouraging costumes and featuring music groups along the route to enliven a winter evening.
The course incorporates Saint-Malo’s unique terrain: the Sillon causeway, the Sillon dike and beach, the old ramparts, the Môle jetty, and the Saint Vincent Gate. Participants navigate stone walls, cobbled streets, sea vistas, and the historic intra-muros area instead of a simple road circuit. Joëlettes are integral to the event’s character, and the finish line offers soup, mulled wine, and a comprehensive refreshment station. The charitable aspect is significant, with proceeds benefiting medical equipment for a young local recipient and inclusive housing initiatives in Saint-Malo.
