About this race
The Corrida des Remparts Bastide Saint Malo is a charity event held in early January in Saint-Malo, Brittany. It features a run, a walk, and inclusive entries for joëlette teams. The main race covers approximately 9 km, the walk is about 8 km, and the start-and-finish area is located on Quai Saint Malo. This event is a small, festive winter race, not a large city marathon. Costumes are encouraged, music groups perform for participants, and the finish includes soup, mulled wine, and refreshments.
The route winds through Saint-Malo’s walled old town and along the seafront. Runners follow the Chaussée du Sillon, the Digue du Sillon, and the Plage du Sillon. The course then circles the ramparts, extends out by the Môle jetty, passes through the ramparts and Porte Saint Vincent, and returns to Quai Saint Malo. This path combines sea views, stone walls, and cobbled streets within the historic intra-muros. Joëlettes are a distinct feature, with several teams participating to support runners with reduced mobility. Proceeds benefit local charities, such as providing medical equipment for a young person with genetic illnesses and supporting inclusive housing initiatives in Saint-Malo.
