The Corrida mersoise takes place on the esplanade in Mers-les-Bains, a seaside town in the Somme region on the English Channel. It is held annually around the holidays, offering 4 km and 8 km races, a 6 km walk, and shorter events for children. Runners can participate in standard attire, while families, friends, beginners, and non-runners are welcome to wear costumes.
The course begins on the seafront esplanade, with the town situated between chalk cliffs and sandy beaches. The evening lighting contributes to the atmosphere, and the event is geared more towards a community gathering than a competitive race. Participants can attend individually, with children, or in groups, and the costume tradition adds a playful holiday spirit to the Corrida mersoise, making the distances accessible.
