About this race
Courir la Jules Verne is a running and walking event held in late June in the centre of Amiens, France, organised since 2014. It is named after Jules Verne, who settled in Amiens in 1871, connecting a local road-running day to one of the city’s most famous residents. The main running distances are 5 km and 10 km; the 5 km follows one loop, while the 10 km follows two loops. There are also 5 km Nordic walking and regular walking options, open to all and run without timing or rankings.
The 10 km is divided by speed, with a Confirmed race for runners under 45 minutes and a Popular race for runners over 45 minutes; both are open from the Cadet age category. The 5 km race is open to all levels from the Minime category. The 5 km, the 10 km Confirmed race, and the 10 km Popular race all carry the French athletics federation’s Bronze label. The 5 km and 10 km Confirmed races can qualify runners for the French championships at those distances. Faster runners can request elite start blocks with proof of recent performances, with the men’s standard under 30:30 for 10 km and the women’s under 36:00.
