About this race
Course Algernon is a Marseille road race starting at Jardin du Pharo and finishing at the Plages du Prado, following the Corniche along the Mediterranean. Runners and walkers can choose 5 km, 10 km, or 15 km distances, suitable for casual participants and experienced athletes alike. Established in 1984 by the Association Sportive et Culturelle Algernon, the event is founded on the principle that able-bodied people and those with disabilities share the same race on the same day, without separation into different events.
The course proceeds from the Pharo toward the Prado beaches, with the sea visible for most of the journey; the 10 km route also circles Parc Borély. Approximately 7,500 to 7,600 individuals participate, including club runners, occasional athletes, older participants, and people with mental, physical, sensory, or psychological disabilities. Organizers refer to it as France’s largest national event for integrated athletes. The day features a lively atmosphere with nearly 180 musicians and performers along the route, including batucadas, brass bands, African percussion groups, rock bands, cheerleaders, orchestras, and DJs.
