The Course de la Châtaigne is a 10 km village race held in Collobrières, located in the Massif des Maures region of Provence. The course follows roads and paths surrounding the village, featuring a hilly terrain rather than a flat road-race profile. This event is designed for various runners, serving as a personal challenge or half-marathon preparation for some, and as a local autumn race with a strong village atmosphere for beginners.
The route winds through Collobrières' narrow streets, past vineyards, and into the wooded hills encircling the village. Chestnuts are central to the day's theme: Collobrières is a significant chestnut-producing area. Each participant receives a jar of chestnut cream upon registration, and grilled chestnuts are available at the finish line. Additionally, a cold beer is provided post-run, local prizes are awarded to podium finishers, and a free children's race, the Pitchouns castagneurs, is also part of the event.
