About this race
The Course de la Saint Valentin in Chasné-sur-Illet is a trail and nature-running event in Ille-et-Vilaine, Brittany, typically held in early February. Its current La Choinette format includes forest races of 8 km and 16 km, plus an 8 km walk for those seeking a local outing without competition. Some listings also indicate a 10 km trail option, which seems to be the most popular distance for the Saint-Valentin version.
The route crosses the Rennes forest and surrounding countryside, making it primarily a woodland run rather than a road race. The Oxygène section of the Association sportive chasnéenne organizes the event, continuing the tradition of the older Saint-Valentin race with a new format. The event attracts a few hundred participants, with previous editions seeing over 200 and up to 360 registered runners. One euro from each registration is donated to the Mouazé Téléthon association, supporting Téléthon activities in Mouazé and Chasné-sur-Illet.
