About this race
The Course Nature du Bioparc begins at the vulture amphitheater within the Bioparc in Doué-en-Anjou, France. This is a nature running event offering three adult distances: 10 km, 15 km, and 23 km. The race takes place in November, with longer adult races starting in the morning and shorter children’s events following later. It is organized with Racing Club Douessin Athlétisme. The setup is distinctive for a trail race, as runners start inside a zoo before proceeding outside its boundaries.
The initial section of the route extends over a kilometer through the Bioparc, passing notable areas like the European aviary, tunnels, okapi sanctuary, giraffe camp, and rhino valley. The course then transitions to the countryside surrounding Doué-en-Anjou, crossing local vineyards before concluding in the Bioparc parking lot. Four children’s races are part of the event, commencing near the path by the giraffe area. The event contributes to conservation efforts: one euro from each entry fee supports black rhino conservation in Kenya, and over 150 volunteers assist with race logistics. Participants must provide their own cup for aid stations. Spectator access is restricted as park areas are closed during the race, with the exception of the vulture amphitheater for the start.
