The Montsalès night trail race takes place in Montsalès, Aveyron, beginning at 6:30 PM. Two primary distances are offered: approximately 12.5 km with around 350 m of elevation gain, and 20 km with about 700 to 750 m of gain. This is not a race for setting personal bests on fast terrain; the course is self-sufficient, limited to 100 participants per trail, and presents challenging sections.
The event also features a 10 km hike, available with afternoon or evening start times, alongside a Nordic walk. Participants note it as a race chosen for enjoyment, the crisp and occasionally damp winter air, and the organizing team, rather than for competitive times. Association Vivre à Montsalès organizes the event, with Philippe Labit as the race contact. Its history dates back to at least 2010.
