Courses de Chassieu begins and ends at the Complexe Romain Tisserand in Chassieu, a town in the Rhône region approximately 15 minutes from Lyon. This road-running event, held in mid-April, offers three distances: 5 km, 10 km, and a half marathon. The 10 km and half marathon start concurrently in the morning, utilizing start gates determined by recent official FFA performances. The 5 km race commences later. Chassieu Athlé is the organizing body, and runners with FFA licenses receive a minor discount on entry fees.
The race structure is straightforward: the 5 km follows a single town loop, the 10 km comprises one extended loop, and the half marathon consists of two 10.55 km loops. The 10 km is the established event and continues to attract the largest participation, with recent fields varying between over 400 and more than 600 runners; one recent edition sold out prior to race weekend. The half marathon was introduced subsequently, contributing to the event's total registration exceeding 1,200 participants across all three distances. Race-day arrangements are efficient, featuring nearby bib collection, baggage drop, and restrooms close to the course, with on-site registration available only if spots remain open.
