About this race

Courses du Pays du Coquelicot is a race meeting in Albert, Somme, Hauts-de-France, featuring road races, trail runs, children's events, walks, relays, and a quirky “farfelu” option. It is connected to the area's lakes and ponds, and the programme typically takes place in early September. Runners can select short road distances of 5 km and 10 km, a half marathon, trail options around 19 km, and longer formats up to 37.7 km when available. The event was established for local fundraising as much as for racing. Over 20 editions, entries and donations supported 17 associations and raised €174,576 for beneficiaries, including a significant collection for the Centre Paul Corteville. The race day also offered a village-like atmosphere with practicalities: leisure walks of 11 km and 13 km, children's animation races, pre-ordered meals like mussels and fries or ham with pepper sauce, and simple food available on site. The original Courses du Pays du Coquelicot have passed their legacy to AMAAC, which continues with the Courses du Val d'Ancre, including a half marathon and 19.5 km trails.
