The Cross départemental de Thiviers is a UNSS school cross-country event in the Dordogne region, focused on middle school sports associations instead of open public races. The report indicates the racing took place at Excideuil, where school sports staff welcomed visiting schools with assistance from high school students and parent volunteers. Seven of the district’s eight middle schools participated, including Excideuil, Mareuil, Piégut-Pluviers, Nontron, Thiviers, Lanouaille, and La Coquille.
The races were divided into four standard cross-country categories by age group and gender, allowing students to compete against peers at a similar level rather than in a single large race. With the departmental UNSS cross absent from the competition schedule, the local inter-school meeting served as the primary event for school cross-country in the district. The afternoon also offered students activities before and after racing: orienteering, disc golf organized with help from Lanouaille, and laser rifle shooting conducted by volunteers from the departmental shooting committee.
