The Derby du Dévoluy is a timed downhill race in Le Dévoluy. Riders descend 1,000 meters from the ski area's summit to a finish line within the resort. The objective is straightforward: reach the bottom as quickly as possible. Almost any snow-gliding equipment with a ski-stop system or comparable brake is permitted. Skis, monoskis, telemark skis, snowboards, snowscoots, and ski wheelchairs are all welcome.
The race welcomes a broad range of participants, not just specialists. The starting field can include traditional skiers alongside snowboarders, adaptive riders, and individuals using less conventional winter equipment. While speed determines the primary outcome, a prize is also awarded for the best costume, reflecting the event's atmosphere. Bibs are available at the La Joue du Loup Tourist Office. Participants require a recent medical certificate or a valid FFS license. The event typically concludes on the Superdévoluy snow front with a DJ, barbecue, refreshments, and the prize ceremony.
