About this race
The EDF Trail des Vallées d'Aigueblanche is an October trail-running event held in Grand-Aigueblanche, Savoie, French Alps. The main program offers 13 km, 23 km, and 48 km trail races on mountain and forest paths, with steep valley terrain. These races are UTMB Index qualifying events. The event also features uphill races: the KV Pelton 1000 covers 1000 meters of elevation gain in 5 km, and the KV Pelton 2000 covers 2000 meters in 10 km. The race originated after the opening of EDF’s La Coche hydroelectric power station, influencing its electricity-themed race names like MégaWatt, GigaWatt, and Térawatt.
The routes traverse varied singletrack within the Vallées d’Aigueblanche, passing near the Morel waterfall and offering views of the Valmorel cirque, the Lauzière massif, and the Vanoise glaciers. Runners may combine a trail race with the Pelton 1000. For walkers, there are four Nordic walking courses ranging from 5.5 km to 18 km, organized with ODYSSEA to support breast cancer research. Children can participate in five race formats, with some events untimed. The series holds a Sustainable Sport Event label, focusing on reducing environmental impact and promoting nature protection.
