About this race
The Ekiden des Fables in Château-Thierry is a team marathon, with six runners sharing the full distance. The race was run in cool, windy conditions. The main contest came down to OSM Lomme, AC Château-Thierry, and the Chouffettes, with OSM Lomme moving ahead around halfway after AC Château-Thierry had led early.
The format rewards even pacing across the team. Gatien Durand had the fastest 5 km split in 17:37, while Antoine Lannoo ran the second-best 10 km in 34:49, only two seconds behind Julien Beauvais. AC Château-Thierry’s mixed team fought for a long time, took the Aisne departmental title, and qualified for the national event in Liévin. Déborah Maurice opened strongly with an 18:05 over 5 km, while José Bastos and Jason Garret Vaz both ran under 36 minutes for 10 km. The same meeting also included a 20 km race, won clearly by Racing Dormans after Simon Lelarge ran 10 km in 35:19, about ten minutes faster than the other runners on that leg.
