The Fête des Vins Km de Saint-Émilion is a running event held in the wine country surrounding Saint-Émilion, near Libourne in southwest France. It features a marathon, a 23 km race, and a 12 km race. The longer races are open to participants from junior to veteran categories, while the 12 km race is open to runners from cadet to veteran categories. The Club Rotary Libourne Saint-Émilion is the organizer, giving the event a charity purpose alongside its sporting objective.
The course winds through Saint-Émilion’s vineyard landscape, a location holding a rare distinction as the first vineyard designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. A recent edition attracted 2,250 participants, including international athletes. The Rotary connection is significant; the club’s motto is “Service First,” and the race supports medical research, specifically work on brain diseases and pandemic-related research at the Hôpital de Libourne.
