The Foxtrail starts in Alzing, a village near Bouzonville in France's Moselle department, and sends runners onto country paths rather than city streets. It is a spring trail-running event with adult distances usually built around an accessible 10 or 11 km option, a middle route of about 17 to 20 km, and a 27 km long course. Children get their own races, so the day is not limited to experienced trail runners.
The routes use forest tracks, hilly paths, and open rural sections in the Moselle countryside, with some editions listing around 400 m of climbing. A local team runs the organization, registration is online, and entries are capped by distance. Adult runners need a valid Health Prevention Course certificate or an accepted sports license, while minors need a recent medical certificate. Food service is available on site, which fits the small local-event feel more than a big-city race atmosphere.
