Sixty-four runners compete in the Gasna Race in Ossès, located in the Basque Country. This is a short, intense trail race with an elimination format, modeled after BMX battles. It was created by the Gasna gang, a group of friends aiming to introduce a more unconventional event to the local trail running schedule.
The race takes place on the Antzaramendi heights, covering a 500-meter course with 20 meters of elevation gain. The format is quick and straightforward: participants are eliminated progressively in rounds, adopting the direct, head-to-head dynamic of BMX racing. Alexandre Daguerre, one of the organizers, contributes over two decades of BMX experience from his time with the Union cycliste et sportive d’Anglet.
