About this race
GFNY Cannes begins on Boulevard du Midi along the coast in Cannes, sending road cyclists inland from the Côte d’Azur each April. Participants select between 57 km and 110 km routes. The shorter route is untimed and non-competitive, while the 110 km route is a timed race for cyclists seeking a challenge. It serves as both a gran fondo and an early-season form check, starting near Cannes La Bocca, not in a closed stadium or mountain resort.
The course soon departs the beachfront for the Esterel region, where narrow roads and steep gradients intensify the climbs. Col de Tanneron appears early, featuring 7.6 km of climbing, 355 m of elevation gain, and gradients exceeding 10% in places. At Lake Saint-Cassien, the routes diverge: 57 km riders return toward the sea, while the long-course participants proceed through towns like Pégomas, Montauroux, Fayence, and Les Adrets de l’Esterel. The 110 km route also features Col d’Avaye, a longer ascent of 13.7 km with 618 m of elevation gain. The final ten kilometers lead back to the coast, passing beaches and palm trees before the finish. Riders can register for race day only, opt for a VIP package including guided rides and a welcome aperitif, or participate in a week-long GFNY Camp with daily 40 to 90 km group rides and sessions on nutrition, tactics, and technique.
