Goat Trail is a spring trail-running event in the Pilat massif, with races centered on Mont Monnet near La Chapelle-Villars and Condrieu in the Rhône. The primary formats are 10 km and 20 km trails, complemented by a 15 km hike and shorter children’s and junior races, allowing families to participate together. The 10 km course ascends approximately 300 m, while the 20 km route climbs about 800 m, indicating that even the shorter race requires solid trail running ability.
The courses start from the old fortified village of Condrieu, utilizing paths through vineyards, forests, and the Pilat natural park, incorporating segments linked to the GR7, GR42, and GR65 walking routes. Some races are semi-nocturnal, potentially requiring runners to use a headlamp as they pass through the Condrieu wine region near sunset. Ptite Foulée organizes the event, which also features DJs, hosts, vineyard tours, and a deliberately humorous "Greatest Of All Time" reference behind the Goat name.
