The Grande Bambée is a mountain trail race held in La Giettaz, a village in the French Alps offering views of Mont Blanc and the Aravis range. The primary 44 km race features 2,700 metres of climbing, designed for experienced trail runners rather than casual road racers. The event also includes shorter routes of 28 km, 16 km, and 10 km, each with significant elevation for its distance.
The courses consist of straightforward mountain running: long ascents, high effort, and sufficient vertical gain to present a genuine trail challenge even on the 10 km option. Specifically, the 28 km route ascends 1,780 metres, the 16 km ascends 920 metres, and the 10 km ascends 600 metres. The Office de Tourisme du Val d'Arly organizes the event, with the longest race commencing in the morning, followed by the shorter races.
