Impérial Trail is a trail-running series held in Fontainebleau, Seine-et-Marne, Île-de-France, approximately fifty kilometers from Paris. It takes place in mid-September, offering races from roughly 13 km to almost 70 km. Runners can select a short forest outing or a long day on the trails. The event is described as a “course de pleine nature,” fitting its design: the race focuses on the forest rather than urban streets.
The main distances are L’impérial Trail at about 70 km, Marath’bleau at about 46 km, Trophée Philippe Mahut at about 25 km, and L’impérat at about 13 km. Recent course profiles indicate the long race is close to 69 km with approximately 1,211 meters of elevation gain, while the shortest option exceeds 13 km with about 202 meters of ascent. The program also features children’s and junior courses, along with a women-only option, broadening the day's offerings beyond typical adult trail races. Its imperial theme is reflected in the slogan “Les marches des empereurs,” referencing Fontainebleau’s royal and imperial history.
