About this race
La Jolie Vilaine Randonnee begins at the sports hall in Nivillac's village center, Morbihan, with departures typically scheduled between 7:30 and 9:30 on a late-June morning. This is a local randonnée, not a single-format race, offering distinct options for mountain bikers, road cyclists, gravel riders, walkers, and trail runners. Entry is straightforward and inexpensive: 6€ for walkers, trail runners, and VTT riders, and 5€ for cyclo and gravel riders. The Speed Bikes club organizes the event, and its name reflects the views of the Vilaine river area that characterize much of the day.
The routes vary by discipline, accommodating family walks, steady rides, or challenging off-road excursions. Walkers can select 9 km and 12 km circuits or 16 km and 20 km routes, which include sections along the Vilaine riverbanks and visits to Rochers aux Fees and Port de Foleux. VTT riders have 26 km and 30 km courses, alongside 40 km, 51 km, and 60 km options. From the 30 km route, they can opt for a RANDURO and panorama zone with new variations. The club dedicates significant effort to path preparation, holding two maintenance days annually and securing temporary agreements with private landowners to permit access to normally closed sections.
