L'Étape du Tour 2026

One day at L'Étape du Tour, amateur riders tackle the same mountain stage as the Tour de France professionals. Roads are closed, and participants use timing chips, aid stations, and receive support throughout the route. This event takes place in France on an actual Tour de France mountain course, typically in the Alps or Pyrenees, and has been held annually since 1993. Entrants must be 18 or older, licensed or unlicensed. Riders are categorized by sporting level when bibs are distributed. The route features significant climbing, including the long, renowned cols that challenge both spectators and participants in the Tour de France. Registration provides a personalized bib, frame plate, luggage tag, access to start and finish villages, medical assistance, mechanical support, and return transport for those who withdraw. Post-event amenities include a Pasta Party, food, a finisher medal with optional engraving, race photos, and personal video packages. Access can also be gained via charity bibs, tour operators, or L'Étape Series events, which may offer entry to a future L'Étape du Tour.
