About this race

L'Infernal Trail des Vosges 70 km is a mountain trail race held in St Nabord, in France's Vosges region. It is part of a larger September trail running weekend offering distances from 15 km to 200 km. The 70 km race is the longest, most demanding option aside from the ultra-distances. Starting at 08:00, it involves approximately 3,240 meters of climbing and offers participants 15 hours to complete, signifying a full day of running on steep terrain. The broader event crosses the Massif des Vosges, passing through over thirty communes in the Vosges and Haut-Rhin departments. The course features ridges, mountain pastures, waterfalls, natural lakes, deep valleys, glacial terrain, small villages, and historical and archaeological sites. Over 7,000 runners are anticipated throughout the weekend, supported by around 650 volunteers. The organization highlights that the event is run entirely by volunteers, a significant undertaking in France. While the ultra distances established the event's reputation, the schedule also includes shorter races like L'Infernight and La Run, attracting a diverse field of participants including seasoned ultra runners, trail regulars, amateurs, professionals, and newer runners.
