La Ceriséenne begins on rue de Bel Air in Cerisé, a small commune in Orne, Normandy, near Alençon. Held in late February, it offers road running, trail-style paths, walking, and youth races, functioning as a local season opener rather than a single-distance event. The primary options are 6 km and 12 km, with shorter 1 km, 1.3 km, and 4 km distances available for children, juniors, walkers, or those seeking an easier run. In Orne, it is considered the first road-and-path race of the new season, with over 500 participants anticipated.
The 6 km race circles Cerisé once, while the 12 km race completes two loops, providing a straightforward course on roads and local paths around the commune. Beginners can opt for the shorter distances, experienced runners can tackle the 12 km, and many local athletes use it to prepare for Alençon-La Croix Médavy. The event also features children’s races and a solidarity walk named “ma foulée pour l’espoir.” ASL La Ceriséenne organizes the event, now in its ninth edition or later, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Un geste, un rêve, un sourire, an association supporting sick children.
