La Chatvoyarde begins at Camping des Lacs in Saint-Jean-de-Chevelu, a commune in Savoie near Lac du Bourget. This trail-running series offers three distances: 10 km with 380 m of elevation gain, 21 km with 950 m of elevation gain, and a 35 km option for those seeking a longer mountain run. The event takes place twice annually, featuring a spring edition and a night edition around late October or early November. The courses primarily utilize natural paths and trails, ascending above the lake through Saint-Jean-de-Chevelu and Billième. The 21 km race presents sufficient hills to require solid trail fitness, incorporating sustained climbs, runnable segments, and technical descents, distinct from a straightforward road course. Approximately 750 runners are anticipated across all events, with staggered starts throughout the morning for the 35 km, 21 km, and 10 km races. Association LE FAROU, a French loi 1901 association, organizes the race, providing runners with an on-course refreshment point and a more substantial meal at the finish.
